Voyeurismo y vigilancia a través de la cámara desde 1870 examina la historia de «la mirada indiscreta» a través de 170 fotografías y 2 piezas audiovisuales que tratan temas tan diversos como la violencia, el voyeurismo, la incursión de la intimidad de los famosos o la vigilancia latente. La muestra incluye imágenes de reconocidos fotógrafos, como Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange, Harry Callahan, Brassaï, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Robert Mapplethorpe, Thomas Ruff o Nan Goldin, entre otros, y trabajos de fotoperiodismo. El conjunto permite contemplar cómo ha cambiado el concepto de intimidad con el paso del tiempo y cómo la vigilancia está cada vez más presente en nuestras vidas.
La exposición está formada por cinco bloques temáticos: «El fotógrafo inadvertido»; «vigilancia, voyeurismo y deseo»; «testigos de la violencia»; «celebridades»; y «la mirada pública«. A través de estas categorías se pueden examinar los aspectos más desgarradores y perturbadores de la fotografía, las posibilidades del uso o mal uso de la cámara oculta y algún desconocido perfil del erotismo y de la pornografía, sin dejar de lado la vida callejera y cotidiana desde hace aproximadamente siglo y medio.
